Scuba Diving from Alanya

Alanya holds down the eastern end of the Turkish Riviera with a character all of its own: a medieval Seljuk fortress crowning the great rock peninsula, the golden curve of Cleopatra Beach stretching out below it, and a harbour promenade where excursion boats, cafés and palm trees jostle for space along the waterfront. Behind the resort streets, banana groves climb towards the Taurus Mountains. It is a town built for long beach days and warm evenings — and just offshore lies wonderfully clear Mediterranean water that most visitors only ever see from the sand.

Your dive day begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Alanya; the transfer drops you straight at the boat, so the logistics take care of themselves. Once everyone is aboard, the instructors run a full safety briefing, then lead the first guided dive: an easy 15–25 minutes at 5–8 metres, perfect for settling into breathing underwater. Between dives a freshly prepared lunch is served on deck, with the ramparts of Alanya Castle looking spectacular from sea level. In the afternoon you descend to about 13 metres — the beginner ceiling, always beside your instructor — to explore caves and rocky reefs in the waters off Cleopatra Beach, before the boat cruises back to harbour and you are driven home. Certified divers dive the real profiles from the same boats: around 30 metres on standard certified dives, and down to 60 metres on the deep sites for suitably qualified divers.
