Scuba Diving from Oba

Of all the resort districts we collect divers from, Oba is the closest to the action. It lies directly east of Alanya's centre — a mainly residential neighbourhood where modern apartment streets and garden cafés slope down to a wide beachfront of family-friendly hotels, with the silhouette of Alanya Castle rising just along the bay. Guests pick Oba for its calmer, more local pace; divers get an extra bonus, because the boat waits only a few minutes' drive away.

The day runs on a simple, well-tested rhythm. In the morning our driver collects you at your Oba hotel; the exact time is confirmed the evening before, once the day's route is set, and the free transfer works both ways. On board, the instructors run a thorough safety briefing before your first guided dive at 5–8 metres, which lasts 15 to 25 minutes — long enough to relax, breathe and start looking around. A freshly cooked lunch follows on deck, and the afternoon dive then takes you down to about 13 metres, the ceiling for beginners. The whole trip fills about eight hours. Certified divers dive the real profiles from the same boats: around 30 metres on standard certified dives, and down to 60 metres on the deep sites for suitably qualified divers.

Underwater, Alanya rewards curiosity. The Alanya scuba diving trip explores rocky reefs and sea caves in the waters off Cleopatra Beach, and close to the harbour lies the amphora site, where ancient clay jars still rest on the seabed — octopus, grouper and moray eels are often seen patrolling between them.
