Scuba Diving from Sorgun

Sorgun is the green, unhurried side of the Side coastline. Instead of a busy promenade you get a broad ribbon of soft sand backed by a fragrant pine forest, with resort hotels tucked between the trees and shaded walking paths running down to the water. It is a place people pick when they want the Turkish Riviera without the crowds — long beach mornings, quiet evenings, and the ancient town of Side just a few minutes along the coast. That same calm Mediterranean water is also the doorway to something most Sorgun guests never expect: a full day of scuba diving.

Your dive day starts with a morning pickup from your hotel in Sorgun — the two-way transfer is free and included. A short drive brings you to the dive boat in Side, where the crew runs a full safety briefing and fits your equipment: tank, regulator, wetsuit, mask and fins are all provided, and passenger and diving insurance covers everyone on board. The first guided dive is a gentle one at 5–8 metres for around 15–25 minutes, ideal for finding your rhythm underwater. Back on deck, a fresh lunch is cooked and served on the boat, and after a relaxed break the second dive takes you a little deeper, to about 13 metres, the ceiling for beginners. By late afternoon you are back on dry land and the transfer returns you to your Sorgun hotel. Certified divers dive the real profiles from the same boats: around 30 metres on standard certified dives, and down to 60 metres on the deep sites for suitably qualified divers.

Divers staying in Sorgun almost always choose the Side Underwater Museum diving trip, and for good reason: it departs from neighbouring Side, so the transfer is the shortest of any of our routes, and it dives a genuinely unusual site — a museum of sunken sculptures resting on the seabed. You can hand-feed the fish that have made the statues their home, and with only 3–4 divers per instructor the experience stays personal.
