Diving in Side in July means the warmest sea of the year — around 27–28 °C — the hottest air, and the fullest boats of the season. At 27–28 °C the wetsuit stops being about warmth and becomes protection from sun and stray stings; most divers are entirely comfortable in the suit we hand out. Beginners spend the day in that warm upper layer anyway — 5–8 m on the morning dive and about 13 m at most on the second, an instructor within arm's reach — and July light is at its most generous there: the high summer sun falls almost vertically onto the sculptures of the underwater museum at roughly 12 m, so colour and detail read clearly without a torch. Certified divers going towards 30 m, or deeper on sites such as the Paris II wreck at 21–31 m, meet a distinctly cooler layer beneath all that surface warmth — a relief after the sun on deck.

Clarity is generally finest in late spring and early summer, and again in autumn — midsummer is still good but more variable, with more boat traffic overhead. Pack for the sun, not the cold: high-factor sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, a rash guard for between dives, and more drinking water than you think you need.
