Diving in Side in April costs exactly what it costs in August: €43 for the Kumköy day trip, €45 for the Side Underwater Museum, €50 for the Antalya reef and cave day — no high-season markup, no April discount, and still two guided dives, all equipment, hotel transfer, lunch and insurance. What April changes is the water and the atmosphere: the sea sits at roughly 18-19 °C, the season is only just waking up, and the boats are noticeably empty.
That 18-19 °C is the one number that shapes an April dive. The air on deck can already feel like early summer while the sea is still letting go of winter, so the wetsuit stops being a formality and becomes the most important thing in the bag. It is included, along with tank, regulator, BCD, mask, fins and weights — see our equipment page. The first entry is a short sharp breath; a minute later the suit warms through and you forget it. The chill turns up on the second dive instead, in fingers and toes, so April dives are kept comfortable rather than drawn out, and beginners on their 5-8 m morning dive have an instructor within arm's reach throughout.
The trade for that chill is water most summer visitors never see. Before the swimming season stirs up the shallows, April water is often beautifully clean, and the sculptures of the Underwater Museum at around 12 metres emerge from the blue far earlier than in August — good news for cameras; see our notes on visibility in Side. The boats are quiet too. With 3-4 divers per instructor already standard, a thin April boat means more deck space, longer briefings and more of the instructor's attention.
Pack for the surface, not just the dive: a fleece or hoodie, a windproof layer for the ride out, a beanie for wet hair afterwards, a big towel and a full change of dry clothes. Spring sun burns harder than it feels, so bring sunscreen. April suits certified divers hunting clean water and quiet sites, photographers, and anyone who would rather dive than queue. Because April is an edge month, availability varies — message us for current dates, reserve free online and pay on the day.

The sea is around 18-19 °C in April, warming through the month. A wetsuit is enough for the two dives we run, and it is included in the price along with all other equipment. Expect a brisk first few seconds, then comfort; the cold is more noticeable on the second dive, mainly in hands and feet. Tell your instructor if you get cold easily and the dive can be shortened.
Yes, with one honest caveat: the water is cooler than in summer, so a beginner's discovery dive feels sharper on entry. Everything else favours you — small groups, an instructor within arm's reach, calm 5-8 m on the morning dive and about 13 m maximum on the second, and often excellent visibility. No licence is needed and try-dives start from around age 10. Our first-time guide covers the rest.
Swimwear, a big towel and a complete change of dry clothes, plus a fleece or hoodie and a windproof layer for the boat — the ride out is cooler than the beach. Add a beanie or cap for after the dive, sunscreen, and any medication you normally carry. Everything technical is provided. Certified divers should bring their card and logbook.
Prices do not change by season: €43-50 depending on the trip, all-inclusive, reserved free online and paid in cash or by card on the day, with free cancellation up to 24 hours before. April is an early-season month, so availability varies with weather and demand — message us for current dates. Hotel pickup is in the morning and the exact time is confirmed the evening before.
