August is the warmest month to dive in Side — and the busiest. The sea reaches roughly 28–29 °C, its yearly peak, so it feels closer to a warm bath than to open sea and the wetsuit becomes an afterthought. The price does not move with the season: €43 for the Kumköy day trip, €45 for the Side Underwater Museum, €50 from Antalya — two guided dives, all equipment, hotel transfer, lunch and insurance included.
At 28–29 °C the suit stops doing a warmth job. Most divers barely notice it in August; the thin suit we hand you is there for sun, stray jellyfish and rock, and nobody surfaces shivering after the second dive. The long August day floods the shallows with light — the sculptures at about 12 metres in the Underwater Museum read bright and sharp-edged, and the fish you hand-feed there are at their most active. Visibility is good but not the year's clearest: the sharpest water on this coast usually falls in late spring and again in autumn, when warm water carries less in suspension and far less traffic churns the surface.
What August really changes is how full the boats are. It is peak season across the Turkish Riviera; spaces go early, and small-group diving — 3–4 divers per instructor on the museum trip — fills fastest. We publish no calendar, so message us for current availability. The month suits first-timers best: a discovery dive at 5–8 metres in the morning and about 13 metres on the second, in water this warm, is diving at its least intimidating. Families on school holidays fit naturally, non-divers ride along as boat visitors at a reduced rate, and certified divers get long, comfortable profiles — around 30 metres on standard dives, with the Paris II wreck at 21–31 m and the DO-28 aircraft at 19.5–23.3 m for those qualified.
Pack for the sun, not the sea: high-factor sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, a rash guard for the deck, and more water than you think — dehydration is the one avoidable risk of a hot dive day. Pickup is in the morning, the exact time confirmed the evening before, and cancellation is free up to 24 hours ahead. Leave a full 24 hours between your last dive and your flight home.

Visibility on this coast is usually at its sharpest in late spring and early summer, and again in autumn. Conditions vary day to day, so treat any single figure with caution.

Warm water removes the single thing that makes a first dive feel harder than it is, and try-dives start from about age 10 with an instructor within arm's reach — 5–8 m on the morning dive, about 13 m maximum on the second. No licence is needed. Standard health rules apply: no diving when pregnant or with severe asthma, heart or respiratory conditions, and no flying within 24 hours after diving.
