Is June a good month to dive in Side? It is one of the best. The sea sits at around 25 °C, the days are long and bright, and the high summer sun pushes light deep into the water — which is why June is the month photographers ask for. Prices do not move with the season: our Kumköy trip is €43, the Side Underwater Museum day €45, and both include two guided dives, all equipment, hotel transfer, lunch on board and insurance.
What 25 °C actually feels like: the wetsuit stops being armour and becomes comfort. You will barely notice the first minute of entry, and — unlike the shoulder months — you finish the second dive without that shivery edge, so surface intervals on deck are spent drying off rather than warming up. Light is the real June story. With the sun high, the sculptures of the underwater museum at about 12 metres are lit almost like a garden, colours hold their shape without a torch, and a phone or action camera gets usable footage for the first time in the year. Visibility is in its strong late-spring-into-early-summer window; sightings still vary with conditions, but reef fish are active and settled.
Boats get livelier in June. Families arrive as European school terms wind down, so you will share the deck with more people than in May — friendly rather than crowded, and still nothing like the August peak. Groups stay small in the water regardless: 3–4 divers per instructor. Pack for sun, not cold — high-factor reef-safe sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses for the crossing, more drinking water than you think, and a light layer for the ride back when you are wet and the boat is moving.
June suits almost everyone: first-timers who want warm, forgiving water for a discovery dive at 5–8 metres, families booking together, and certified divers heading for the deeper sites with real light to work with. Around 25 °C. That is comfortably above the Antalya winter figure of roughly 17 °C and only a few degrees below the late-summer peak of about 28–29 °C. In practice it means a standard wetsuit feels easy rather than necessary, and you can complete both dives without getting cold.
June falls inside the best visibility window on this coast — late spring into early summer — and the second good window comes again in autumn. Combined with the high June sun, that gives bright, blue conditions at the museum sculptures around 12 metres. Conditions still change day to day, so nothing is guaranteed.
Busier than May, as families start arriving, but well short of the August peak. The deck is sociable rather than packed, and diving groups stay small: 3–4 divers per instructor, with an instructor within arm's reach of every beginner.
Sun protection above all: reef-safe high-factor sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses for the boat, plenty of water, a towel and swimwear worn under your clothes, plus a light top for the return leg.
